Towards High Speed and Bandwidth Efficient CMOS Wireless Transceivers
نویسندگان
چکیده
We describe an approach to constructing an all-CMOS wireless transceiver capable of transmission speeds of up to 30 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. To achieve robust high bandwidth efficiency communications, the design includes such features as a four element antenna array, adaptive equalization, multi-level QAM transmission, variable baud rates, frequency hopping, and adjustable transmission power. We further describe how these adaptive features can be exploited in high efficiency multiple access schemes.

The 7GHz unlicensed band around 60GHz provides the possibility of gigabit-per-second wireless communications. In addition to satisfying speed-intensive applications, such high data rates can also reduce the energy dissipated per bit because the power consumption of RF transceivers has historically increased sublinearly with the data rate. Moreover, the millimeter wavelength permits the integrat...
متن کاملA 25Gb/s 170μW/Gb/s Optical Receiver in 28nm CMOS for Chip-to-Chip Optical Communication
A low-power high-speed optical receiver in 28nm CMOS is presented. The design features a novel architecture combining a low-bandwidth TIA front-end, double-sampling technique and dynamic offset modulation. The low-bandwidth TIA increases receiver’s sensitivity while adding minimal power overhead. Functionality of the receiver was validated and the design is compared with a conventional 3-stage ...

The ever growing volume of backplane communications pushes the data rate toward 20Gb/s for the next-generation transceivers. Over the years, chip designers have been seeking different data formats to overcome the loss of electrical channels. Among the existing solutions, duobinary signaling manifests itself in bandwidth efficiency as (1) its spectrum occupies only half as wide as that of NRZ da...
